From the outside looking in

It’s always eye-opening to get an outsider’s take on the big shows we evangelicals put on at many of our megachurches these days.

Check out this short opinion column about her visit to the Planetshakers church in Australia.

Her closing paragraph:

The crowd left believing they had been moved by God and touched by Jesus. They hadn’t. They had been seduced by slick video packages and had their emotional desire for love, community and certainty met by manipulation. It wasn’t the Holy Spirit; it was just people.

Granted, looking at some of her other columns she seems out on a mission to dump on various Christian assemblies.

But she might just be on to something with this assessment of “stadium-rock spirituality.”
